While fashion is an art form all in itself, it is also a major part of works of art. The Metropolitan Museum of Art will have an exhibition titled Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity opened from February 26th to May 27th, 2013.
This exhibition focuses on the role of fashion in Impressionist artists work. Most of the 80 plus paintings show the relationship between fashion and art from the mid 1860s to the mid 1880s, which is when Paris rose to become the center of fashion. Impressionist artists such as Monet, Renoir, and Baudelair will have featured works in this Exhibition.
There will also be events to go along with this exhibition such as courses, lectures, and workshops. You can find out more about this exhibition at http://www.metmuseum.org.

SCREWED UP:
At first glance this Alexis Mabille dress seems like a win, but a closer look reveals an awkwardly tied belt laid in such a distasteful contrast to the detail surrounding the bosoms. The train of the dress also look sort of awkward. Zoe is always lovely make-up and body figure wise, but this dress didn’t hit it on the head.
SCREWED UP!
Salma Hayek almost nailed this year’s red carpet look. Her Alexander McQueen gown looked a bit over the top, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I did wish she wouldn’t have worn her hair up the way she did, because her middle-aged extravagance easily turned into early prom excitement.
NAILED IT!
Sally Field definitely nailed this Valentino dress. She looked absolutely stunning.
NAILED IT!
Quvenzhane Wallis wore her famous pooch purse decked in Swarovski crystals and a tiara. Her look was age appropriate and fun.
NAILED IT!
Olivia Munn wore a dashing Versace Atelier Couture dress with a train for the gods. I absolutely enjoyed the shade of red, her hair styling and lip color.
SCREWED UP!
Jackie Weaver, wtf? Something is seriously off about this look. The tailoring, the cut? I can’t quite put a finger on it as quickly as I did on my computer screen.
NAILED IT!
Naomi Watts is a red carpet favorite. This Armani Prive dress gave a futuristic glow unparalleled at this year’s Oscars. The simple accessorizing and hair styling complimented the look.
NAILED IT!
Oooh La La! Ms. Olivia Pope herself, known in real life as Kerry Washington, looked marvelous. The shade of this Miu Miu gown was a real eye-pleaser.
NAILED IT!
George Clooney and Stacy Keibler are a match made in heaven, so far. Stacy looked statuesque in her Naem Khan gown.
NAILED IT!
Halle Berry can do no wrong in our eyes. Her choice of this Versace dress was tasteful and worked well with her make up and hair cut. A pleasure!
SCREWED UP!
I don’t understand, I don’t understand, I don’t under…WTF happened here? Helena Carter is wearing Vivienne Westwood here but she reminds me of her familiar roles in the Harry Potter series. It looks scary!
SCREWED UP!
Jennifer Hudson we love your Weight Watchers realness, but what is going on with that shade of blue you chose for your shoes? She is wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Jimmy Choo clutch and Sutra jewelry. All good choices but not necessarily together.
NAILED IT/SCREWED UP
Yes Ms. Kelly. You are giving a 50-50 sort fo deal here. I can’t decide, so I’ll leave it up to the readers. THis Donna Karan dress is nice, but it seems a little over-exposed. You be the judge!
NAILED IT
Joseph Gordon Levitt looks timeless in this Gucci ensemble. From the hair style down to the shoes, every man should aim to achieve this swag.
SCREWED UP!
Kristen Stewart looks way too awkward in a Naeem Khan dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and Fred Leighton jewelry. Her make-up is too similar to the one used on set to give her the bride-mother of vampire spawn look in her famous Twilight series.
NAILED IT!
Jamie Foxx and his daughter were classy and well-dressed. Jamie is our hero, rocking a Calvin Klein look.
NAILED IT!
Charlize Theron is stunning in this white Christian Dior Couture dress and Harry Winston jewelry. It doesn’t get any better than this!

We love art. We love music. What better way to combine the both than to have a creative art installation with live performances? That’s exactly what our darling JeyFree accomplished during her GYPSY series at Zirzamin Bar in New York City.

The Power of the Cunt represents her body of work empowering the female genitalia. There was also a collection of art from JeyFree’s extensive travels overseas including earrings, rings, necklaces and sunglasses.
We thoroughly enjoyed performances by Sene, Deneisha, JeyFree, Semaj, Sheez, Andrew Thomas, and more! Our absolute favorite was the duo Deneisha and Sene performing Why do We Fall in Love? This jam gave a Coldplay feel with a twist of their own originality. Check out the talent below:

The Museum of Modern Art, or more accurately known as MOMA, is known for having amazing exhibits with both new and classic artists. This time is no exception. Wolfgang-Laib is a German conceptual artist that primarily works with natural materials such as pollen, milk, and beeswax. Wolfgang-Liab will be covering the whole Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron atrium with natural bright yellow pollen. He collected the pollen from trees and flowers around his home over the summer. This exhibit will run from January 23rd to March 11th, 2013.
Additionally, of a classic nature, Edward Munch’s The Scream will be on exhibit until April 29th, 2013. This painting is the only one of four versions created by Edward Munch that is held by a private collector and on loan to MOMA throughout the above-mentioned dates. This exhibition is not open to the general public until 10:30 AM.
You should definitely swing by MOMA and check out these exhibits as well as the other amazing pieces of art they have on display.

Yesterday, after Beyonce’s live rendition of the Star Spangled Banner in front of tons of media outlets covering her soon-to-be performance at the Super Bowl, I have gained a new found respect for the artist. The critics were going off for over a week because of Beyonce’s miming of the country’s national anthem.
Some say it was not that serious and didn’t deserve the attention. As a singer and lover of music, I would have to say that it is in fact important and she deserved to be crucified for singing over a track. At a time when all our politicians do is mime their way into office and our public figures are not genuine in their approach, a live rendition would have felt more organic and real to the American people.
With that being said, Beyonce is a super-talented artist. I doubt any one was downplaying her long-standing career and vocal prowess; however, this live rendition yesterday was a genius idea and we have now semi-forgiven Beyonce. When you have legends like Aretha Franklin reading/shading you, a timely response is necessary.
She gave reason for her mishap at the inauguration, saying, “I am a perfectionist and one thing about me is that I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with orchestra.”
We get that part Beyonce and we applaud you. What we don’t get is Beyonce’s quick response that she will be singing live at the SUper Bowl. WRONG WRONG WRONG answer Bey. Think about it. We would have rather heard you live at the Inauguration. That was a moment sorely missed and at this interview you should have addressed that and moved on. When asked about the Superbowl, there should have been a response that indicated B was not going to sing live.
We do not want live singing from an upbeat artist like Beyonce at an event like the Superbowl. I do no want to hear tired vocals and out of breath dancing. If there was any an event to lip sync, the Superbowl is it. PLEASE BEYONCE, we implore you to save the live singing for a slow song like the National Anthem and leave your lip syncing for the booty-popping, lose-my-breath performance we are expecting at the Half Time, unless of course Destiny’s Child makes an appearance.
What do you think? Was it too late for a live performance? Should Beyonce sing live at the Super Bowl? COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT

As we usher in another 4 years of a Presidency, we inevitably simultaneously usher in a new era of artists. Among such are the Blk ID label designers the Blk ID twins aka the Perkins Twins aka the TP brothers aka the Apostles (just kidding).
They have released a new track and video, which we thoroughly enjoy and must share with our readers. The rap flow is smooth and the video is innocently fun. We see a lot of potential.
Take a look and let us know your thoughts!

Be on the look out peoples! Our latest video feature comes from a growing producer on the grind! Philly is on the come up with this one!
First of all the producing on this track is sick. The video itself screams LUXURY and the black and white effect proves simplicity is often a man’s best friend.
