Vintage sells nowadays and what better way to sport the look than in a group of like-minded friends? We had the privilege of shooting a group of uber-cool kids in New York City, subsequently interviewing our contact, Kid Love aka Elijah Pryor.
Elijah runs his styling business, Styling by Kid Love. He is apart of the Tribe NYC Crew. We are supporters of his movement and really enjoyed shooting his crew. Check below for an interview and the moments we captured on camera!
What is the name of your crew?
The name of my crew is TRIBE NYC
What are the names of everyone in your crew who we photographed?
Kid love (me)
Paulie D (not pictured here)
How did you all meet and form this crew?
Im just going to call it destiny. We kind all just found each other. It was the right place at the right time.
The easy way out of this question would be to say the late 80s early 90s, but is more of a personality thing for us and being comfortable with who we are as people and that era seems to just do it for us.
What do you think about the current state of Hip Hop? Who are some of your favorite artists in the game right now?
What we listen to nowadays is not HIP HOP, its just rap. Hip Hop wasn’t a thing everyone could do but I feel that anyone can rap. IN terms of favorite artists, I would have to say Kanye West. He had the heart to try something different.
Where do you all get your high top fades done?
We all go to a place in Queens called THE HUT
Where do you shop for the retro fits you all wear?
E-bay, vintage shops, Goodwill, Salvation Army, garage sales, and our parents’ closets.
What are some of your goals and aspirations?
Honestly I just keep following the path I was given and wait to see what happens.
